Today I’m going out for a long hike in the rainforest below Machu Picchu, but yesterday I went for a short hike to “practice” with a camera that I haven’t used in quite awhile. It turned out that I managed to get quite a few nice shots – enough that I thought I’d do a quick edit and share them so people could get an idea of why I love the rainforest.
During the entire hike, I kept thinking about the many, many people I’ve hiked with in the jungle and how everyone wants to walk fast without paying any attention to the place they are passing through. No one seems to want to take their time and experience the sights, sounds, and smells of the jungle. It’s all about checking off another place on their list to say theyu’ve been there and moving on without any real experience at all. (Of course, they’ll brag about being there for the rest of their life even if they only did the minimum.)
I had a lot of fun and saw some new flowers ad got some shots of one amazing bird who was patient enough to let me get reasonably close. The attention yesterday was on detail and small scenes so there’s not of stuff like that, but I think you’ll still enjoy it.
Please let me know what you think. I’m off into the jungle again this morning!
